Tring Tring

“Tring Tring” the phone rang.
The old man got up from his bed and answered the phone –“Hello!” He said in a cracking voice.
The disappointment on his face was poignant. He hung up the phone saying-“Sorry! Wrong Number!”
He walked back to the bed with baby steps and tears in his eyes.
He lied on the bed and chose to sleep - a sleep that was eternal and that liberated his soul.
Just then the phone rang again.
The servant picked up and the voice on the other side said- “Hello!”
It was the old man’s son after 40 long years.

P.S.: Please express your emotions while your loved ones are alive. If not, don’t regret, cry or carry bouquets to their funerals because your smile, your touch or even a petal of flower would matter a lot while they are alive.

Cares or Interference?

Yes… I am writing after ages… I know that… I have been away from my first baby for so long… My blog!

Back to writing here… finally…

Just before few days, this girl Ananya came to know her mumma is unwell. She got extremely worried because her mummaa lives alone. And Ananya works somewhere else in other town.

Various thoughts came to Ananya’s mind – “How will mummaa take care of herself when she herself is unwell? Who will take care? She is as such lethargic to cook and drive… How will she go to doctor if she has to go? How will she cook? Who will cook? Will she eat properly?”

Her mind was fogged with all these thoughts. She could not resist. She decided to visit her mummaa.

Finally after changing various trains, buses and autos she reached her mummaa after 8 hours.

On her way, she called up her mummaa – “Where are you maaa?”

Mummaa – “I am at hospital. And don’t worry. I am fine. Sweety aunty is with me?”

Ananya now got more worried. Why is mummaa at hospital? Is she more ill kya?  I need to see her asap..

She was too exhausted. Wanted to just go and hug her mummaa and drink a full glass of water. No matter what.. juices and cold coffee are good in its way…but water is water… nothing is better than it… She wanted to take care of her... Make sure she’s fine… Nothing else mattered to her…

She just rang the door bell… Mummaa opened the door… and guess what was her reaction…

She frowned and said – “What are you doing her Ananya?”

Ananya tried to hug her but she moved away.

Ananya got worried and said – “But Mummaa.. I wanted to see you since I was worried on listening that u r hospital. I could not resist myself.”

Mummaa got more angry –“Did I die? Why are you here? You should be concentrating on your work. And not run and come every time on every sneeze.  I am fine. You should not have done this.”

Ananya understood that her mummaa cared for her and did not want her to roam here and there. She just wanted Ananya to rest and concentrate on her work. But still, because mummaa got angry,

Ananya’s eyes were filled with tears.

She said – “Please don’t say like this. I don’t want to see you ill or can not let you fall ill… Please never talk about you dying. Can I cook food for you? And can I take care of you? Can I just stay a day here  and take care of you. Just want to make sure u r fine mummaa…”

Mummaa now screamed – “I want u to go and take care of yourself and concentrate on your work. Please do that if you care for me. And please don’t cook for me. I can do it on my own. I am yet not handicapped and I can take care of myself. I am elder to you and know how to take care of myself.”

Ananya could not understand such harsh words from her mummaa when she was just trying to care for her and wanted to make sure she’s okay.

Ananya insisted – “No. I can’t leave you like this.”

Mummaa now told her – “You please go back to your workplace or else I won’t talk to you. I hate such interference in my life.  It’s suffocating. I can be by myself and take care of myself. I am not a baby. So please leave! You are not a kid who needs mummaa everywhere. You are grown up now so be independent and stop clinging to me.”

Finally Ananya knew that it was wise to move out at that moment.

With moist eyes, she said – “Mummaaa.. I am sorry that I interfered. I just meant to be thoughtful and care for you because I really love you. Please take care of yourself.”

She hugged her mummaa and left…

But that didn’t mean she didn’t care.

Ananya still made sure in her way that her mummaa remains fine and doesn’t have to work a lot.
And mummaa cared in her way because she didn’t want Ananya to run here and there in her own illness. She wanted her to be calm and concentrate in her work.

Care has its own definition.

But I don’t understand why is CARE mistaken as INTERFERENCE  or INTRUSION?

Why is DEDICATION is misinterpreted as -"OBSESSION"?

When we care for others, do we try to do it so dedicatedly that it takes away their space.

Is it correct to Care so much whom you love so much? Or you should not care beyond limitations?

P.S. – As far as I am concerned, I don’t believe that love or care has limitations. It is an non-measureable notion. Its vague measuring it and putting a boundary around it. Its selfless notion. Let it flow free…

Unconditional Love

There was this little girl named “Ananya”….

One day Ananya’s mom taught her – “Teachers are your second mothers. So always respect and love them the way you respect and love me.”

Little Ananya instilled that teaching into her mind for the rest of her life.

It was Ananya’s teacher’s birthday after a week.

Ananya was lost in her thoughts and determined thinking what kind of card she will make for her teacher and what gift will she give to her teacher. Being a child, she was quite anxious to celebrate her teacher’s birthday and see a smile on her face in return.

Just then, Ananya’s parents entered her room and announced that they have a family function on the same day as Ananya’s teacher’s birthday so she will have to miss the school.

Ananya felt bad. She tried to explain saying – “But mom-dad, its my favourite teacher’s birthday and I can’t miss it. I always wish her on the same day. Please can we go to the function on some other day?”

Her dad smiled and said – “No dear. The dates are not in our hands. It’s not our own function. So you have to come with us. And the very next day you can go and wish your teacher.”

Ananya resisted. She didn’t utter a word but she felt sad deep inside. Why was it always that she had to give importance to others’ priorities.

The next day she went to her teacher. She was not in her usual mood. The teacher could make that out.

The teacher asked her – “What happened Ananya?? Are things fine with you? Are you unwell?”

Ananya was almost into tears. She replied – “No ma’am. It’s your birthday but my parents have a family function and they want me to attend. But I don’t want to miss ur birthday. I have so many plans for your birthday. I want to gift you so many things.”

Her teacher laughed on Ananya’s innocence. She said –“Oh! That’s the problem? But you know what I want as a gift?”

Ananya wiped off her tears hurriedly to know what teacher wants. She was obviously anxious to know.

The teacher said – “The biggest gift you can give me is you obey your parents. Participate in their happiness and attend the function. And then later on, you can come and celebrate my birthday. I am always here only.”

Ananya had always obeyed her teacher’s words. But she argued this time – “But ma’am I want to be the first one to wish you.”

Teacher smiled and replied – “By agreeing right now that you will obey ur parents and go to the function, as such you will be the first one to gift me naa…  because u r giving me a gift right away. And on my birthday, I am just a phone call away. U can be the first one to call me. So I get ur wishes and gifts first. And then later on, you can come and celebrate my birthday any day. I am here only. So please don’t create hassle to your parents.”

Ananya agreed to it although half-heartedly. But she was excited that by obeying her parents she will be the first one to gift her teacher and she will be fulfilling her wish. Yay…!! And also that her parents and her teacher demanded the same thing from her so she gave up on her wishes and gave into their wishes.

She immediately rushed home and went to her parents’ room and announced – “Mom-dad, What am I suppose to wear in that function? I am ready to come to the function. I don’t mind now.”

Her parents became extremely happy on hearing this. Her dad could see that she has agreed and infact happily agreed to obey them.

Her parents went to her, sat besides her and held her hand and said –“Dear Ananya, We are really happy that you have complied to our wishes and are ready to follow what we said. You have touched our hearts. And your teacher is a wonderful person who has taught you such beautiful things. But since u r adjusting as what we demand, we also will respect your wish. We will go the function but only for a while, and then we can come back and you can go and celebrate your teacher’s birthday. And as such we also have some important work so we have to be back. So now you are also happy and we are also happy. Happiness everywhere!”

Ananya could not believe her ears. She immediately hopped with happiness. And asked – “Really Dad?”

Her dad moved his hand in affirmation.

Ananya became happiest and so her parents and so the teacher.

P.S.- People who truly and unconditionally love you, will always look for your true happiness and what’s right for you even if it doesn’t include them. In the story, first the teacher gave up on Ananya’s wish for celebrating her birthday and asked her to obey her parents because she truly cared for Ananya and wanted her to obey her parents.  Then Ananya gave up her wish because she wanted her parents and teacher to be happy. And then her parents gave up a little so that Ananya is happy. Only people who love you unconditionally can think about you this way sacrificing their own happiness. Cherish them. Love them to the core and never lose them. Such loved ones are hard to find. Here all the 4 loved each other, cared for each other and respect each other enough to let go of their happiness and respect others’ happiness.

Pages shall turn

The book of Life may turn old and yellow...
A corner in the heart may look too hollow...

The days might seem longer than the night...
You might fail to judge between the wrong and the right...

You may lose hope for the consequences of tomorrow...
Laughter might diminish, you may succumb to sorrow...

But remember it’s the Bend...
Which you mistook as the End....

Into ashes, these coals of pain will burn...
The book will be revived and pages shall turn...

You don’t need to close the book, Just turn the page...
Set your spirits free, and break the comfortable cage...!!

Bitter Sweet Memories

It was a sunny Monday afternoon. The girl named ‘Simran’ was not feeling much well. She had severe body ache as cancer was advancing further. The cool air coming out of A.C. could not suppress her pain. She felt more and more restless.

However, early morning she had made up her mind- “Today is an auspicious day and I am going to cook a sweet dish for my mom any which way. As such mom seems to low since many days…. So may be my cooking a sweet dish for her may light up her mood… may be it will bring her smile back… I will ignore the pain today and be strong and make her smile bring back… “

She immediately got up and asked her cook – “Maharaj.. Please teach me how to cook Suji ka halwa… Mom loves it and I want to make it..”

Maharaj replied – “Madam. U please don’t make it. I will make it for you. U just serve her…”

Simran- “Now I want to make it with my own hands so that she feels good. I will put my all love and cares in it. It will surely bring her stress level down..”

Maharaj did not argue after that.

After a while, she started coughing badly and she vomited blood. She almost fainted. So her nurse advised her to rest for a while. She immediately went to bed.

But she was too restless to have a sound sleep. She tossed in bed for a while. Then she woke up and called up her cook again and asked the recipe again.

The cook explained her all over again. Then she looked at clock. It was just 3 p.m. – “Mom will come back at 7 p.m. The cook said it takes 30 mins to cook the halwa. So I shall start at 6 p.m. Till then what shall I do?”

She was too excited about it because she had complete faith that she would bring a smile on her mom’s face with a sweet dish full of sweetness and love. And after that, mom would have no stress ever.

She tried to divert her mind and tried to surf the T.V. channels and guess what she was watching. Cookery channels with an expectation that some channel would show how to make halwa.

After a while, again she called up the cook to confirm the recipe of the halwa. The only thing she wanted to see was a beaming smile on her mom’s face.

She started making halwa at 6 p.m. sharp with the cook instructing her online over the phone. She did every step carefully so that she doesn’t make a blunder.

At 7 p.m. the halwa got ready. She served the halwa beautifully and went to her mom to give it to her.

As soon as she entered the room, mom gave a big frown and asked – “U know I am not in right mood. Yes or no? I don’t want to see anybody as of now. Do u get it or not?”

The girl almost got tears in her eyes. With moist eyes and cracked voice, she replied – “But mom I just tried to make your mood by cooking for you.”

The mom got pissed off more and said – “Is there a compulsion that I am supposed to eat these? Is there a compulsion that even in this frame of mind, I have to talk to you and be good to you?”

The girl almost got shaken up but she managed to stay strong. She thought to herself – “I have not done anything. Then why is mom being so harsh to me? Have I done a mistake? But how? I have obeyed every word what she has said. Then why is she so pissed off with me?”

The girl just replied – “But mom why r u being harsh to me? I have not done anything wrong. Have I?”

Mom replied – “If I am harsh to you, just excuse me. And please don’t piss me off more.”

The girl with moist eyes just stood up from her room and started to leave. She touched her feet. But mom didn’t bless her. She hugged her mom to give healing hugs. But the mom stood still, not reciprocating anything.

The girl went away with  eyes filled with tears and heart burnt. She didn’t want to piss off her mom.

That night she cried herself to sleep because she had no one to share her feelings and emotions.

Silently in her prayers, she just prayed – “Dear God. I am tired of cancer and its treatments. And I am as such being a burden on others and bothering them. Why do u force me to be here on earth when I am so unwanted? May be I have hurt mom somewhere that’s why she is so rude to me. But I have not done anything. I swear God. But its not her fault. She herself is not in correct frame of mind. Please give me all her pains but make her stress free so that she becomes cheerful again.”

The next morning the girl was in terrible health and was hospitalized. May be the God answered her prayers.

P.S. – Many a times, we ignore others, hurt others, knowingly or unknowingly just because we are not in correct  frame of mind... not knowing how it would affect them. We don’t even realize what emotional damage we are giving them by being so harsh. We may be in worst of mood but we should not let it affect others especially those who care for us and are ready to bear our all mood swings. And if at all we are upset with opposite person, just admit it or say it once. That would make the relation easier. If you don’t say the reason to other person and keep being rude, the other person gets confused. Neither u r clear that person is at fault or not. Neither that person gets aware of his or her mistake. Better if u say it once what’s bothering you. Atleast, that person would apologize if at fault and would justify if not at fault.  But speak out once. So that things become clear and hearts at peace else there would be unnecessary disturbances in ur and their lives.

Mummaaa Or An Angel???

I met her some years back, sometime in middle of the year, where the cheerful September had just begun to enhance its beauty. We had a very good conversation very first time although I was too scared of her. There was some pacifying concern in her voice which was so motherly and so unconditional. I wanted to go on talking to her endlessly.

Days passed on and we became friendlier with each other. She was the best person to share my heart with.

She made me feel alive when I felt the world is close to end. She made me see how beautiful the simple things in life can really be. Like an angel in my life, she was always there to protect me and surround me with happiness wherever I go.

She knew me in and out. She knew when I was sad and when I was glad. This makes my relation with her so unique because I never felt the words were required to express my pain or grief and still on the other hand I could blabber in front of her insensibly… and she would listen to it patiently with full interest…  Being heard is a gift she gave me most precious in my life.. . She read my mind so well -  A Perfect Angel to fill up the void of a best friend in my life.

We all need one special Angel in our lives who can always stand with us in times of troubles.

This Angel does not have soft feathers which would help me fly above the ground but she definitely makes me feel on cloud nine when I am almost about to jump into valley of depression.

This Angel does not have a magic wand which can change things before I blink my eyes. But she makes my world go around and make it a paradise when I get frustrated like hell.

This Angel does not have magic dust to sprinkle on me to change me.. Just her blessings and teachings are enough to change me..

This Angel is earthly in nature. We argue and do get upset too. Her anger knows no bounds and is uncontrollable. But on the other hand. she has a heart so pure just like that of a little toddler, that’s innocent.. that can be crazy.. that can be stern.. but that’s filled with unconditional love and care.. Her anger is just like a air bubble.. Once it bursts.. it gets evaporated into the air again… and never re-forms for the same reason..  But only few get her this characteristic…

I need this Angel in my life always and I am really happy to have her in my life........She’s a God’s blessing in my life….

Everyone deserves an Angel in Life who makes u Smile when u run out of reasons to Smile…

That’s what Mothers are all About.. Aren’t they…???? Always giving and caring… sacrificing and loving … unconditionally… truly.. madly.. deeply..

Today I just thought of Thanking God – “Dear God.. Thank you for listening to me so keenly… I had just asked for an angel who helps me going and the next day she walked in … “

She is still my Candy Bar Angel.. who gives me sweet Candies of Happiness and Blessings and Cares..when Life hits with me Bitter Taste..

Anyone Can be a Mother .. But it takes a Beautiful Heart and Soul like her to become a Mummmaa like her…

I seriously want to ask God for once - "Is it true that because he can not be everywhere so he created Angels like Mummaa to be around....?"

Feeling Blessed
Love you for being you…
